Need decent hotel in safe part of Miami?

Hi, We are cruising on the Norwegian Pearl on 1/25/09. We have been

looking for cheap airfare into Miami but haven't found any. We want

a non-stop flight. So instead we are probably going to fly into Fort

Lauderdale airport and take a shuttle to Miami. We also have considered

staying in Ft Laud. and leaving in the AM for our cruise at the Port of

Miami. But we would need a hotel in FT Laud or Miami that is in a safe

area with nearby restaurants and stores and preferably continental

breakfast (free). And we would need shuttle service to the Port of

Miami for 1/25/09. We are flying in a day ahead of time.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It is going to be

my Mom, sister and me. Ages 65,43,and 44. So we want someplace

clean,friendly and safe. Thanks.

GO shuttle will take you from fll airport to a hotel in Miami. We stayed in Coral Gables which is part of Miami, but very safe. Taxi to pom ran about $25. There are restaurants along the Miracle Mile and we were out way after dark walking around and it felt very safe. We stayed at the Hyatt (AAA rate).

We are on the same cruise and are flying into Miami a day early. We are staying at the Holiday Inn across the street from Bayside Marketplace. We plan on hanging out there and having dinner. We won't have a car so it will work out good for us. Were are you flying from?

This is a fabulous deal thru end of January for Eden Roc Hotel in Miami. Its very upscale and has just finished a $180 million renovation. The promotion is only good for limited time. Look at the website. No free breakfast - can get to port in taxi. This place is gorgeous and in safe area. Take a look and see if it fits your needs.

Marriott Rewards members (free to join) can get a fabulous deal here up 'til end of January - $129/night! Reserve here, using promo code M11: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel...ferInfo=358872

Good luck where ever you stay and Happy Cruising

Hi,

I am going on the Dawn the week before you. The price of an NCL transfer from FLL to the port of Miami is twenty dollars per person. If you stay at a hotel in Fort Lauderdale that has a free airport shuttle, you could take it back to the airport and catch the NCL shuttle to the port.

We got a great deal for a night at the Intercontinental in early December on Hotwire. Worth a look.
