2iowacruisers Posted November 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2008 Since we will be leaving the kids at home for our first cruise in less than two weeks :D, we were wondering if anyone had suggestions on what kind of calling card to buy. We want to call them from Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
bills blasters Posted November 4, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2008 We had bought "International Calling Cards" from Sams. They were ATT. We tried to use them from Grand Cayman. They did not work. We tried the phone booth right where we get off the tender. We ended up using a credit card. That was a big mistake. We were charged almost 40$ for a 5 minute conversation. Afterwards, we were told we should have tried a phone farther away from the docks. They said that they sometimes block the nearest phones to the ship so that people have to use the most expensive way to call. We also tried the calling card in Freeport, and it also didn't work right by the dock.
wrp96 Posted November 4, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2008 Most calling cards you can buy in the US are only good for calling FROM the US not TO the US. Best advice is to buy cheap calling cards when you get to Grand Cayman and Cozumel - ask your waitstaff as they should know where the inexpensive places are to call from.
