abitaturbodog Posted November 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2008 Has anyone experienced the anytime dining on Liberty? I know they just started this and wonder what it's like.
ZigNKat Posted November 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2008 I called my TA yesterday about my OBC and asked her what she knew about the anytime dining. The reply was "the what? Carnival doesn't do that". She knew NOTHING! Her company (a well known site) hadn't advised them of the change at all; my question was the first she'd heard of it. I'm waiting for the cruisers to return from this week's trip with reviews since this is the first week they're doing it on the Liberty. I did see on a different thread that apparently you choose it and then you have it for the duration of the trip; you're not able to decide day-to-day whether you'll be at your specific seating or in the anytime dining room. But my question is when can you choose? Can I sign up now and be done with it, or do we do it at check-in? Any help anybody can provide would be great! Happy Cruising!! stive1 Posted November 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2008 We are sailing on the Liberty in January and I had no idea this was something they were going to offer. We enjoyed the anytime option during our cruises with Princess and NCL. I'm also looking forward to hearing how things go.
abitaturbodog Posted November 6, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted November 6, 2008 I just read on another site that they are trying this for the first time on the sailing that returns on Saturday. I guess I'll have to wait until this group gets back to get the skinny on anytime dining.
w99flash Posted November 6, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2008 We are booked on the 1/10/09 cruise. When i heard this was going to be offered on the Liberty I called my TA who contacted Carnival to inquire. We were switched to this option(I hope) without difficulty. We have done NCL and Princess and enjoy the concept. Will wait and see if Carnival has it worked out by Jan. Happy Cruisin'.

oceanseagle12 Posted November 6, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 6, 2008 But my question is when can you choose? Can I sign up now and be done with it, or do we do it at check-in?quote] I just had my reservation switched to open seating. I called Carnival about getting some OBC, and while on the phone asked them to put me down for open seating. It shows up on my docs like that now. BTW- w99flash- Im cruising the Liberty on Jan 10 as well- have you checked out the roll call? Also, if you haven't already, check the pricing on our sailing. I've gotten OBC for $150 because they are now offering a resident rate.

Kerry&LuAnn Posted November 6, 2008 #9 Share Posted November 6, 2008 You can request Traditional Dining (early or late seating) or Open Seating prior to your cruise, and that will be your dinner assignment for the duration of the cruise. You can't go back and forth on a daily basis during the cruise.
Bunkie103 Posted November 6, 2008 #10 Share Posted November 6, 2008 You can request Traditional Dining (early or late seating) or Open Seating prior to your cruise, and that will be your dinner assignment for the duration of the cruise. You can't go back and forth on a daily basis during the cruise. This is good for those of us who found out we don't care for the "freestyle dining" offered by NCL. abitaturbodog Posted November 6, 2008 Author #12 Share Posted November 6, 2008 I would like the anytime dining, but my 2 boys pitched a fit when I mentioned it to them. They said that they like having the same waiter and table each night. Oh well.
Bunkie103 Posted November 6, 2008 #13 Share Posted November 6, 2008 While I enjoy the freedom to eat at whatever time I choose, I noticed the dining room was so busy with people constantly coming and going, tables being cleared and re-set. Just spoiled some of the ambience I enjoy at a given seating. We also missed having the same waiter for dinner every night.
