Sam Lords Castle?

Has anyone visited Sam Lords Castle? Is it worth the drive over in a taxi?

Thanks

Maureen

I haven’t followed it closely for a year, or more, so I may have missed a few things. The last that I heard, it is in limbo with all of the furnishings sold, awaiting a promised grand resort and golf course.

The original owners, Grand Hotels, defaulted and the property was put up for sale. Paul Doyle (owner of the Crane Resort) was actively pursuing purchase of the property, but was out-bid by Clico Holdings, who now owns Sam Lord’s.

No one really knows when anything will happen. It is currently closed and vacant. One is able to access the beach that fronts the property, and it is exquisite, but unswimable.

If you are touring in the Bottom Bay / Long Bay area of St. Philip on our SE coast, it is well worth a stop to appreciate what a beautiful area it is.
