spingal Posted November 20, 2008 #76 Share Posted November 20, 2008
They didn't have some of the other info in them such as the drink specials, etc. I'd have to look at an older one compare for sure, but something about them just seemed off. JMO though.:)
Hey there Craig and Jack! I think the reason they dropped the drink specials is because they no longer offer them. I noticed on my Crown cruise that the price of the "featured" drink was the same as all of the other drinks. Just a theory! Amelia, I too can't wait to see your pictures of the naming ceremony! :D

But luckily Princess' bar prices are still pretty reasonable. And as rcacace stated, it may just take us a bit of time to get used to the new layout of the Patter. :)
rcacace Posted November 20, 2008 #78 Share Posted November 20, 2008 Since all the Patters on Princess were always the same in the past I wonder if the new design is being implement across the ships as well. It wasn't as of 2 weeks ago on the Island.

We have a friend going on the Crown in about six weeks - we'll ask her to compare them.

lynwar Posted November 22, 2008 #83 Share Posted November 22, 2008 Hi Our Patters were on the bed most of the time. I think the change for me was that the navigational info was on the front page-like location, how far we'd travelled, etc. It is now on the back page of the Patter. I reread my original post and it sounded negative to me and I didn't mean it to be. I really enjoyed my cruise. We participated in the Trivia almost twice daily and went to a tea party and played Scrabble-just generally relaxed on this, my annual vacation. We do spend lots of time in the Casino and that's why we don't see a lot of the shows or movies-maybe stumble upon some later. I'm glad that I know what our gift is now-a votive candle holder or tea light holder. A friend of mine suggested putting an airplant in it, when I showed it to her after we got home. It's sitting in our living room with other "nautical" mementoes. I agree that there weren't any drink specials to speak of-like the Drink of the Day. However, we did try a few of them anyway. As I said, we had a great time with all of you -and I did discover that the gentleman who gave me his Princess Cap after the one trivia game where his team tied with ours-and won after about 6 extra questions, like the Family Feud-was actually a part of our RRIC group!! I love pictures!!! Thank you so much. I'm going to give it to my step-dad as a gift-he's been taking care of my mother so well. Our team did win one the final day so I got one for myself. Take care for today. I'm going to put my head on the pillow and suddenly feel as if I'm "floating"-on the ship! Lynne

CL-JW Posted November 26, 2008 Author #90 Share Posted November 26, 2008 We too were on this cruise and had a wonderful time.( Hi Jack & Craig) To answer someone’s question from an earlier post, we did notice that they had a small section for smoking in Explores also on the port side. I also was lucky enough to have a friend invite me for the 2 cruise to nowhere for the Christening ceremony (thanks Lauren). I thought they did a wonderful job with it. The ship was decorated nicely with red bunting and red rose all over the Neptune pool area. I will try and down load pics this weekend. Over all I thought they did a nice job on the maiden voyage. Some small issues, but to be expected. Nothing every goes 100% right 100% of the time. I found everyone to be friendly and loved some of the changes to the menu also. As mentioned before, the pub lunch was great! It was very nice to see the captain through out the ship. Some one on our roll call has nick named him Mr. McCharming. It fits! Amelia Amelia - any progress on getting the naming ceremony pics posted yet?
CL-JW Posted November 27, 2008 Author #91 Share Posted November 27, 2008 Our good friend Lauren scanned some copies of the Dinner Menus for the Ruby. We've posted them to the same album as the Patters. To view best, click a pick and then view "full size". No dessert menus, just dinner. http://travel.webshots.com/album/568773839tSpiLm

highheel girl Posted November 27, 2008 #95 Share Posted November 27, 2008 Regarding Movies Under the Stars: They played several movies here - Mama Mia, The Dark Knight, Swing Vote, Wall E, Iron Man and a lot of football (including Monday Night Football). They did midnight showing of Rocky Horror, which was fun. MUTS was really unobtrusive. We hadn't sailed on a MUTS equipped ship so didn't know if the volume would be too much. We were surprised how low the volume is. Actually the volume was not a normal thing. It was low and we asked several times to have it turned up. On other ships that we've been on the volume has been fine. I think it's just another thing that needs some fine tuning. I was so happy thought that Mama Mia was showing. We were really suprised that the 11:00pm showing was so packed.
highheel girl Posted November 27, 2008 #96 Share Posted November 27, 2008 craig and jack thank you for putting up your review and photos. It was awesome meeting you and enjoyed the little gatherings in the hallway. We truly enjoyed the ship. Some quirks that need to be worked out, but we went in knowing things weren't going to be what we are used to. We just wanted to be on the ship, to see our friends, and Generoso, the head Maitre D'. The art work around the ship was just amazing, the tile work and word work through out was breath taking. I didn't really like the new lay out of the patter either though. Was hard to read and find what you were looking for. Took a couple of nights to get use to it. Ours was on our bed every night, never under the door. We really were glad to that we got to meet everyone. We had a great roll call and a great turn out for the meet and greet. Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving and safe holidays. tamie
