what airports are close to the terminal in Port Canaveral & which should we choose?

We are thinking of taking a cruise in May and it leaves from Port Canaveral.

What's the closest airport to the terminal there, is it Orlando? If so, how far is the cruise terminal from the airport and are there taxis, shuttles? What's the best way to get there, thanks in advance.:)

The nearest big airport to Port Canaveral is Orlando (approximately 40 miles). You also have options of Melbourne and Daytona Beach.

Unlike in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, where the ports are near the airport (especially in Fort Lauderdale), it is quite a distance to take a cab to Port Canaveral. You might want to look at renting a car instead.

Most people use MCO as that will have the most options of flights. Daytona and Melbourne may be closer but you won't have as many flight options.

Orlando is the one. I would only consider the others if you got a great deal. Rent a car its the best. Use Hertz, Avis, Dollar/Thrifty, Budget or Enterprise. They have locations here and will shuttle you to/from the ship.
