rge Posted November 29, 2008 Author #2 Share Posted November 29, 2008 I see it's gone now, did anyone else see it or is there something funny in my coffee this morning?
ashleysj Posted November 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2008 I think you are looking at the pier at the port. Just my guess looking at the current web cam picture.
Druke I Posted November 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2008 Can't read the hull number, so I don't have a clue which carrier it might.
Goldryder Posted November 29, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2008 Could she be the John F Kennedy? Mothballed and possibly going to be an exhibit in Miami similar to that of Intrepid in New York, Lexington in Corpus Christie, Midway in San Diego, Hornet in Alameda and Yorktown in Charleston? If memory serves there was some discussion about having JFK as a permanent resident in Miami if the funds could be organised.
rge Posted November 29, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted November 29, 2008 As I look closer, I think it's one of those amphibious assault carriers, looks like helicopters on her deck.
ashleysj Posted November 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2008 RGE That ship was not there when I first looked unless we were drinking the same coffee. I drove by the Port today and you are correct. It is the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge. Ashley
