juniperia Posted December 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2008 Hi Everyone, Hope someone can answer this question - Does anyone have experience using Celebrity Cruises' currency conversion program? I'm using a credit card with a Canadian currency, and was wondering if it was better to: * Choose the Celebrity currency conversion program (which is based on wholesale exchange rates collected from Bloomberg plus a 3% international currency conversion fee) and have my onboard charges in the currency of my card (Canadian $) OR * Have my credit card convert onboard charges from US $ to Canadian $? I guess what I'm really asking is who has better conversion charges, Celebrity or the credit card? Thanks!

cloudy1 Posted December 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 3, 2008 Juniperia, if your cruise date permits, get yourself a US dollar credit card and use it for every expense. Most Canadian banks offer one. You will be ripped off every which way if you don't. Additionally, every future cruise you go on, pay for it in US currency. You will be astounded at how Canadians and Brits. are ripped off. Cloudy1
juniperia Posted December 5, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted December 5, 2008 Thank you all so much for your replies! Yes, this was an option given to me during the online check-in process. I don't have time to get a US Credit Card from a Canadian Bank, so I'll have to use my regular one. I'll take your advice and go with the credit card conversion rather than Celebrity's.
