Great walkable beach from ships

Just returned from Key West. Went to South Beach at the south end of Duval Street, a half block from the Southernmost Point. This is about a mile from the cruise ship docks. It is small, but very clean with somewhat coarse white sand. It is free, but there are nice lounge chairs available for $5 and a nice full service beach cafe and walk up bar. don't expect to do any surfing, as the waves never get much above 6 inches, which is nice for the little ones. Water is clear (most of the time) and shallow.

You might want to check something...

 

It used to be the case that if you "bought" a chair for this beach it also got you admittance to the pool across Duval Street at the Southernmost House. *And* one free drink.

Sorry, but the Southermost House pool and bar is no longer open to the public. There were complaints from the neighbors about the noise.
