A Sixth? Posted December 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2008 Where do you disembark the tenders. Is it near / at Samana? Anyone with a lat / lon? I've been to Samana many times on my own and will be on the NCL Jewel soon and would love to explore the possibility of doing our own thing... but the cruise lines don't give much info as to where they stop.:D
regardless1 Posted December 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2008 I don't know a lat/lon, but you get dropped at a pier. Turn left when you get off the pier and "downtown" is about 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk. The Casino and local market will be one of the first things you see. cruisingbooboo Posted December 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2008 Regardless1, I take it you've been there before? what did you do? any beaches with in a 20 min taxi drive. I really want to go to a nice beach but RCI's $45.00 ride to the beach seems like highway robbery to me. Any suggestions? How is the casino near by? shops? regardless1 Posted December 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2008 We were there last week with NCL. Didn't look into any of the beaches since we were doing Magen's Bay in St Thomas the next day. We did the horse ride to El Limon on our own. It is pricey. Cost us $124 total, which was cheaper than the NCL cost of $158 for both of us. We didn't go into the casino or do any shopping in town. I have a post "our trip to El Limon" if you're interested in reading it. Nikki

A Sixth? Posted December 30, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted December 30, 2008 Thanks. I haven't checked this thread for a while but I guess I know about where the tender pier is thanks to the replies. Just east of where the military boat is I guess. I have spent a fair number of days in Samana over the years but was last there in 1998. We will likely take our chances ashore and hire a van/tour on our own. There'll be six adults and 3 kids (3, 5 & 7)
