How Much Is Your Reward?

I read a post where a CCer reported receiving 2% on Celebrity Visa (or AMEX) purchases and 3% on others. Is that true? Are all rewards the same? When the cards were initiated I received 2% on all travel related items (hotels, airfare and maybe restaurants). Currently I am only getting 1% on all purchases except for Celebrity which is 2%. I do not use the Celebrity cards for anything other than Celebrity purchases, as my Macy's pays 2% on everything outside Macy's and 3% on Macy's purchases. Are there different rewards for different people?

 

I will say the redemption of the rewards is much easier than in previous years.

Rewards structures change from time to time. For example, we have a Costco Amex and they have different rewards depending on the spend. For travel we normally get 2%, but a few months ago they changed gasoline to 3%. We also have an MC thru my employer (investment bank) and get 2% on everything this year, but that may change to 1% in the new year. Last year they offered 3% on cruise purchases.

 

I wonder if these rewards may change in the future, given what's going on with the availability of credit.
