NancyandBill Posted April 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2004 We are on the May 8th sailing of the Serenade to Honolulu. My son lives there, and assumed he would be able to visit with us on the ship. I told him I was quite certain that only passengers and crew were allowed on the ship. Does anyone know if they ever make exceptions to this? Nancy
nosnobunny Posted April 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2004 To the best of my knowledge, it isn't allowed any longer. Beth
AdrieneAGD Posted April 20, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Short answer, no. You can't get on the ship unless you have a SeaPass that belongs to you. gene624 Posted April 20, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2004 I don't know about exceptions -- you might call Royal Carib. But I do know that there is no longer the ability for non-passenger guests to visit on the ship. Gene in Birmingham
madforcruising Posted April 20, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2004 As far as I know the answer is NO. No visitors are allowed on the ship. I would contact RCCL to get an official answer but I would not spend too much hope on it. BTW I just got the repeaters magazine of Crystal crusises and they start again to allowe visitors onboard under certain circumstances. Must be announced to Purser desk in Advance. But I doubt this on RCCL. lauren0309 Posted April 20, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2004 As far as I know, due to security reasons only passengers of the ship can board. You can meet your son off the ship though. NancyandBill Posted April 20, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Thanks for the quick responses. That's what I thought. I told him since 9/11 I didn't think it would be allowed. He just really wanted to see the ship. He hasn't been on a cruise since he was 5. It was on the old Red Boat. I will send RCCL an email just to confirm. I keep telling him he should go with his friends. They could probably get a good last minute rate. He turns 21 tomorrow, so he can cruise without an adult now. aqusis Posted April 20, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2004 They do allow non-sailing members of wedding parties to board for pre-cruise weddings that take place on board the ship. I think the is the only exception. Mariner of the Seas
cruisinisforme Posted April 20, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Well, I normally would agree with everyones answers, but it just so happens that we recently got off the Mariner. On our first day on the ship, we ran into a group of people who were allowed on to tour the ship, they were given a pass and had to be off by a certain hour. They had no seapass card and they asked us to buy them drinks if they gave us the cash, so it could be possible the guests are also allowed on under the same program, I would call and ask. sscruising Posted April 20, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2004 To the best of my knowledge (with the exception of pre-cruise weddings) no one is allowed on the ship. The only other exception I am aware of is if you are a travel agent and have been invited to come aboard.

justcruzin85374 Posted April 21, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Just off the Brillinace and about an hour or so before sailing, an announcemnt was made that all vistors must debark the ship. Don't know who the vistors were, wedding or maybe TA's or something like that, but I've seen signs at the entry that says "No Vistors" It would be nice if your son could join you on the cruise....hope you have a great time. Murphy Posted April 21, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 21, 2004 A few years ago we were sailing and the Celebrity Infinity was docked next to us. She was in her inaugural year and I took lots of pictures of her from our balcony and pool deck. When I was talking to one of the cruise director staff later that day and told her how neat I thought the Millenium looked, she told me I should have said something earlier and she would have gotten me a pass to board her and take a tour. I think it's who you know and who you ask. 7 previous cruises, Hawaii on Legend scheduled May 2004, and Enchantment Oct 2004

NancyandBill Posted April 24, 2004 Author #18 Share Posted April 24, 2004 Here is the response I received from RCCL: Due to security reasons, Royal Caribbean International does not permit visitors onboard any of its ships. As the entertainment is subject to change without notice, our entertainment department does not release the names of the scheduled entertainers for any of our sailings. Please review the "Celebrity Daily News"once onboard. Thank you for choosing Royal Caribbean International. Raenell Shah Nancy
cruisinisforme Posted April 24, 2004 #19 Share Posted April 24, 2004 I would call and ask them directly because as you can see from previous posters, and I myself saw visitors on our ship, they do allow them. yarlenna Posted April 25, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 25, 2004 Generally visitors are not allowed. Exceptions are hard to come by but do include wedding guests. Technically they are not visitors, as there is a per person charge for the reception. While they are not traveling passengers, a fare has been paid for their presence. Most other visitors I have seen have been travel agents and other corporate guests. Work like a dog. Live like a pauper. Save all your money. Then Cruise! cgc33a Posted April 25, 2004 #21 Share Posted April 25, 2004 The "visitors" I have seen have been TA's, vendors and others who have business on the ship. That is who the general announcement is for ("all visitors need to disembark...").
happytocruz Posted April 25, 2004 #22 Share Posted April 25, 2004 The answer is no. You can not have vistors come on the ship. Now with that said there are 2 exceptions to the rule. T/A doing a ship inspection (which is set up in advance) and the non sailing part of a wedding party. It has been a policy for a few years before 9/11 but it has been really enforced. 05/09 MARINER OF THE SEAS
