Sirdar Posted December 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2008 We booked a cat H on the Veendam and just received our cabin assignment as a cat E on the main deck starboard near the end of the stern. I take it that this was an upgrade since the view seems to be unobstructed. Does anyone have experience with this cabin or location on the ship? Thanks Rich:)

Thanks Rich:) It actually depends how far back you are..We normally prefer mid-ship or forward cabins rather than stern cabins, because of engine noises.. We had an "E" cabin (746) on the "Veendam" in Aug., but it was on "A" deck which was mid-ship & perfect for us.. The only time we've had a stern cabin was on the "Maasdam" this past Nov... It was the third cabin from the stern (829) on "A" deck & it was a bit noisy when the thrusters were used to dock..The noise awakened us.. However we had no choice since we wait-listed at the last minute & were only confirmed 10 days before departure.. In any event, that little inconvenience did not bother us as we always enjoyed watching the ship dock..And we were on a cruise!:) Enjoy your cruise..:)Betty
Jemima Posted December 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2008 We've had a cabin near the stern on the next highest deck on the Veendam. It was one of our favorite cabins.
