JNCRUISEBUMS Posted December 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2008 We were told there was NO shopping at the pier...WRONG!! There are some very nice shops and they are adding more. There were dancers there and they were quite entertaining! I'm sure someday it will be as big as Cristobol. :D
davidnsteph Posted December 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 29, 2008 When we were on Colon on the Sun Princess 6 years ago, we remember seeing a large, new duty-free shopping area next to the dock, with plenty of shops. During the day there were many children in the area, wearing school uniforms. We went out in the evening after dinner. This time, the children were mostly gone, and there was a large group of local adult male residents. They were mostly just standing around observing the visitors. Some of the passengers out shopping must have gotten spooked by something, and the majority of them started heading back to the ship at once. We saw the migration and followed. GordonS Posted January 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 1, 2009 Just to clarify: Are there shops at Colon 2000 or only at Cristobal? Are cruise ships now using Colon 2000?

GordonS Posted January 4, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2009 We are currently living in Panama and wish to meet with some of our friends who will be cruising through the Panama Canal on Jan 13. They have just found out that they will be stopping at the Cristobal pier not the Colon 2000. Do you know if the shopping at the Cristobal pier is only for Cruise ship passengers or can people enter the area from outside? Thanks for any info you can provide. Regards, Gordon
