CookieBird Posted January 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2009 Hi- my husband and I will be on AOS on Valentine's Day and just curious if there is typically anything special planned on the ship, special dance, special dessert, decorations, etc? BTW- not complaining or asking for free stuff, just wondering as I have never cruise on a "holiday" before.

kel3120 Posted January 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2009 I don't have first hand experience, but I was just checking out the "holidays onboard" section of the website. Some stuff for Valentine's Day is listed. Here's the link: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/holidaysOnboard/home.do;jsessionid=0000QhxaDjhYZZH9iPuNsZBO_n1:13hldcgo7?cS=NAVBAR
bethcollins Posted January 3, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2009 I'm glad someone else was thinking about this, also. DH and I will be on IOS over Valentines Day for our first cruise without any kids along.
dsvd79 Posted January 3, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2009 We were on a valentines day cruise on Voyager two years ago. Nothing too special at all. It almost seemed like a regular day to me at least.
kittymom65 Posted January 3, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 3, 2009 We were on Mariner in 08 for V day, we had dinner at Portofino, and every lady there was given a red rose. It wasn't much, but it was nice.:)
wrp96 Posted January 3, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 3, 2009 On Jewel in 2007, they had romantic songs karaoke and offered some Valentines Day spa specials. That was about it.

Ditto for when I was on the Monarch in 2008 except they also had a giant heart-shaped balloon arch in the centrum with red & pink balloons. Again, not much but at least you could tell it was a holiday :)
chotton Posted January 3, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 3, 2009 My wife and I will be on AOS that week as well. We are going to have dinner at Portofino's on V-day.

It wasn't much, but it was nice.:) We had dinner at Portofino's on the Mariner on Vday in 07 and was told that we could only book there if we bought the "package" for $75 which included dinner for 2, a bottle of champagne and the rose. They would not book us for dinner at the normal $20/$25 charge per person that night and when we showed up more than half of the restaurant was empty!
