Honeymoon on Celebrity

We were married on Maui, the Westin, on the inaugeral Infinity cruise to Hawaii in 2001. As luck would have it the Restaurant Manager from the ship was my best man. He was getting married by the same minister on the next cruise and wanted to see the ceremony. He left right after the ceremony so when we returned to the ship it seemed the entire crew knew we had gotten married, he told them as most were going to be guests at his wedding. At dinner that night. formal night, he sent a bottle of wine, the social hostess sent flowers, the captain stopped to congratulate us and the string quartet played our song. All in all a great ending for the best day of our lives. We joke that our wedding reception was 1,000 people having lobster and prime rib. Don't know about others but that is how Celebrity treated us.

We spent our third anniversary on Infinity a few years ago, and there was a combined Honeymooners/Anniversary "social" with cake and champagne in the observation lounge one day. Invitations were received in our stateroom after embarkation. We also received a chocolate cake with "Happy Anniversary" at dinner the night of our anniversary (formal night - which it happens to be again on our upcoming cruise).

I'm not sure about Celebrity and honeymooner perks, but on NCL, we were really treated very well. There was a spa onboard that had pay-to-use facilities which were great (hot tub, cold plunge, steam, sauna, etc), and we were given a week pass for the two of us. We received a couples hydrotherapy bath (really meant for one person, but the ladies set it up for us). The concierge gave our group of 22 priority disembarkation for both our wedding port (St John --- port was St Thomas) as well as final disembarkation back in Florida (along with a specific room to meet in for only our group both times). They also seated us at the Captain's table... but the Captain didn't dine with us. It was a large 16-seater table in the very middle back when NCL had traditional seating. The other six were seated at the next table over. Although we were married that week on the cruise at a port of call, we did not book our wedding/reception through NCL nor its affiliate, yet NCL and Alex Forbes (concierge) took fabulous care of us and our group the entire week. It was Spring Break week for me, the ship was packed, yet many crew seemed to know who we were. We weren't even in a balcony or a suite for the cruise... they just took exceptional care of us (it was our second time on NCL). None of these perks were from our Travel Agent that did the group booking - except a bottle of champagne and wine that were in our cabin upon arrival. (Which we took to dinner -- and no corkage fee was charged.) Hopefully Celebrity throws in a perk or few for ya!! ;)

One more thing I just remembered NCL doing... we got invited to a VIP reception via the concierge that took place in the Captain's quarters prior to dinner one evening. We were escorted there, and it was really cool going into that crew area, seeing all the ship deckplans lining the halls, historical photographs of the ship, etc. Drinks and munchies in the Captain's quarters and out on his private balcony. There were probably twenty of us at that, and it was just hubby and I from our group invited. We really got the chance to chit-chat informally with various officers, which was fun and informative.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! We just booked our honeymoon cruise this week and this was what the Celebrity website said:

When night falls, you're invited to a private celebration in honor of all newlyweds onboard. Sip champagne and nibble on gourmet hors d'oeuvres as you meet other couples embarking upon their new lives together, just as you are.

Sounds like a nice little get-together. I'm not sure if they bring out a little cake at dinner or something... I've noticed some recent cruises I've been on have done that for honeymooners (but they weren't Celebrity cruises).
