Saw this on another board(hopefully it's not too tacky) How much did you pay for your cruise?

Recommended Posts

Just booked Mariner for 4 of us next April sping break.

Inside Cabin for 2 at $632 per person - Deck 10
Owners Suite for 2 at $2330 per person - Deck 10 (close to Inside Cabin).

with www.buycruises.com (add the taxes on top)

Also, they reduce the prices if RCCL do and/or any other special deals come up. Last year, we decided to pay and take Grandad with us. with buycruises we ended up paying less for the extra person (After senior rates and room sharing).

I don't mind if someone else finds it cheaper after I have booked. It's all a matter of timing and when YOU feel happy making the booking. After the fact in life gets stressful (IMHO).

Explorer last May- Cat N inside cabin
$1458 - $500 MBNA travel rewards = $958 or $479 pp

Mariner , May 2nd 2004 - Cat N Inside Cabin
$1498 - $500 MBNA travel rewards = $998 or $499 pp. THEN, I decided I wanted an upgrade to balcony D2 so add on another $800 upgrade fee for a total of $1798 or $899 pp

These prices include tax and port

I am looking forward to using some C&A coupons in the future!

I live in Orlando so we drive to the port.

We need a Holiday...

We are going on the Voyager on Sept 10th on a 9 night cruise leaving New Jersey. We got an inside cabin for 980.00 pp. It's a little more than we would usually pay for a cruise but we usually go on 7 night cruises. So we figured since this is a much bigger ship and since we were sailing for 9 nights, it may be worth the money. Unfortunelty we didn't get a balcony this time but hopfully as the time gets closer, we will get offered a upgrade. I love balcony cabins!

Our last cruise was on the NCL Dawn out of NY and we got offered an upgrade to a balcony and it was totally amazing. Just steping out on that balcony that first morning and the smell of the salt water and warm air- AHHHHHH!
So hopfully we will get that opportunity to enjoy a balconly again. It was just a little too costly this time around.

Anyone hear about VOS getting remodeled soon? I know it will be starting to sail from New Jersey in May for the first time so I heard somthing about getting remodeled or renovated before hand. Enjoy!!!!

It is hard to compare rates unless the cruise is the same date. Different times of the year rates vary greatly. I have found best rates Thanksgiving to week before Christmas the cheapest to book. We're sailing Serenade 11/27/04 $417+ $417 daughter $317 total 1,151 for three after C&A coupon. Q Guar room I'm aboard. Happy Sailing

For our VOS sailing on 10/26/03 we paid $790pp for a DB Balcony cabin.

For our AOS sailing on 11/14/04 we are paying $1585.65 for 2 ppl in an E1 aft balcony #9692. Less C&A coupon of $125 we will be paying $1,460.65. I think that is pretty good.

DFritz,
Thanks for the information about tips. What do you do if the service is terrible?

Richterscale,
My hubby works for SWA also. He is the METR in Phoenix. (started as a res. agent). Where do you work? We haven't used Dargal, but we have used Interliner.CA a Canadian company. We also used a company from Colorado on our 2000 cruise. The Canadian company charges a service fee so I might shop around next time, but they have good service so probably not.

Sorry,
One more answer: Interline rates are for the travel industry. The rates are usually posted between 2 months to 1 week before sail date. Sometime great rates, sometimes just a little better. RCCL decides if they will take C & A coupons. There usually isn't any deals around peak times, so it's always best to shop around.

We're on the Legend 14 day trans-canal October 17. I paid $2750 for mom and me including taxes and insurance for a Cat H. Of course, that price is growing as I add all the extras on for this blow-out trip for Mom.

My first cruise was last February on the Norway (sigh) and even with the single supplement paid less than $500 and got upgraded to a porthole!

[ The airfare is what is really bad $809/person out of Detroit. We live 2 hours northeast of Detroit, it is much cheaper flying out of Detroit than Toronto, Canada and the same distance.
Hey Cool Cruiser

I'm in Ingersoll just 20 minutes north of London. We were looking into the Aos too since we love the itinerary. Just wondered if you looked into Spirit airlines for your flights to San Juan. I've read good things about them. They are a no frills airline but have great prices. I just looked at a flight for around the time you are going and it's around $420 US which converts to $570 US pp. That's $250 less pp than what you said you have to pay. It might be worth looking into for next time. I know the challenges of expensive flights. We just came back from Carnival's Miracle last week and our 2 flights from TO to Jacksonville cost more than the cruise did. It is worth it to drive to Detroit and we're definitely going to do it next time. Anyway, just thought I would let you know about Spirit air just in case you hadn't heard of them. Woodz-You can adjust your tips up or down for any reason. They will even give you opportunity to make a written praise or complaint if you like. I've never had service so bad that I wanted to adjust my tips. As long as they bring me food and take away and do the dirty dishes than I figure they are worth their weight in Gold.

jbrewster- C&A coupons are from the Crown and Anchor Magazine. If you have cruised with RCI at least once in the past than you can join the Crown and Anchor Society free of charge and they send out a little magazine about every three or four months and in the very back are some coupons for specific cruises with specific sail dates.

gkrebs,

Oh, I didn't know that it was only 4 years old. I thought that I read a review of a passenger saying it was really in need of a facelift and it was worn down and then the review said that is will be getting renovated. Maybe I misunderstood! Well, that is good to know then!

Thanks a lot!

With our C&A coupon we just got two balcony cabins on deck 9 on the Mariner for 9/12 for $728 pp, couldnt beat the price, and we used our frequent fliers, so here we go again.

Sorry about asking the interliner question that had already been answered. Did not know that when I posted. The prices would mean a lot more to me if posters would say what type of cabin for their price, i.e., H1 and then describe it whether inside, oceanview, balcony and what deck. Maybe I should know all of this, but I do not.

Actually the Voyager is going into dry dock, for a facelift, the first few weeks of May before begin NJ departures on May 16th. I doubt there will be any major remodeling or reconfiguration but everything will be freshened up!
