imosoreal Posted April 26, 2004 #151 Share Posted April 26, 2004 Not tacky to me at all. I like to be able to tell if I really have what I consider a bargain. From the looks of some of the prices others paid, I really did get a bargain. We have a aft balcony D1 on deck 10 for a total price of $1470 which includes everything. I think it was a good deal. ambergloww Posted April 26, 2004 #152 Share Posted April 26, 2004 we paid 1001.50 total for the both of us for a larger inside for our 7 day Sept. Rhapsody cruise. We're newbies but it seems like a good price. My best friend's brother works for Vacations-to-go so we booked through him. BarbGar Posted April 26, 2004 #154 Share Posted April 26, 2004 To: imossoreal We are very interested in Adventures of the Seas. Sounds like you got a great deal. Would you be willing to share where you got it. You could either respond here or e-mail me directly with "Cruise Critic" in the subject line. Thanks much. Looking forward to your response. woodz Posted April 26, 2004 #155 Share Posted April 26, 2004 Repo cruises are usually a great price. Some cruise line web-sites actually had a repo section, but on RCCL you have to hunt a bit. The drawback is the penalty for 2 one-way air fares. They are popular with travel industry people because of the flexability available to us. tinsel57 Posted April 27, 2004 #160 Share Posted April 27, 2004 OK, well I've watched and read so I guess my $1440 D1 balcony Rhapsody is ok then. The only way I can see that I can do better is if the price drops in my category, which right now is sold out, or with a coupon and I've never cruised RCI before so I guess that's is not an option. Unless someone else has suggestions for me?? tinsel57
brn2crz Posted April 27, 2004 #161 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Hey Tinsel.. Actually,I am a little jealous of you. When I priced the balcony,on priceline, after their price drop.It showed 565 pp for a D1,,I tell ya,I about peeed me pants. But when I went to book it,for three,it was priceing out at 1941!.. We currently have a inside larger, that we paid 1341 for..Would you let me in on who you booked through.I know most sites (except RCI) shows sold out.But If we book my other DS and his GF,then we will book little DS with them, and switch to the balcony...if we can find one. What I am mad about, and maybe I am wrong. But our total for the cruise only was 706...we are being charged 483 for tax and port charges.I know when I priced this sailing earlier..(about a million times) those tax and port costs were not that high.We still got a good deal over all,but I am curious as to what others are paying in tax and port,on that sailing. Thanks. tinsel57 Posted April 27, 2004 #162 Share Posted April 27, 2004 I hunted forever, wrote down every site any suggested and checked till my eyes fell out of my head. And when I thought I could do no better I lucked into a TA that's helped me further. I booked the Rhapsody thru here and came out AHEAD even with cancel penalties and my cabin is across the hall from my first cabin! What a riot. I searched for a week for 9/2005 cruise and finally found two sites with rock bottom pricing I took the price to her and she beat that one too, not by much, but she still saved me money. Email me and I am happy to share, I will share with anyone for the asking. cheche01 Posted April 27, 2004 #163 Share Posted April 27, 2004 I would like to know the name of the travel agent, I have search all the sites and the best price quote I have gotten is through Crucon. I had a quote from cruisequick which was a little more than Crucon and then I received another quote from them that was quite a bit more. They said they made a mistake on the first quote. NetMom Posted April 27, 2004 #165 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Hey Woodz and richterscale... Hellloooooo from a fellow SWA family member at MDW. I couldn't agree more about both the pay and the benefits but if you have to work anyway, it may as well be for a company that throws the baddest parties around...lol Just to add my .02. I booked the AOS 4/24/05 for $1169 for 1 and 2 and $399 for 3 and 4. Of course that is w/out air since ATA has a sweetheart station deal for us. I am just making sure I have plenty of time before and after the cruise just in case. PammyHound Posted April 27, 2004 #172 Share Posted April 27, 2004 $769pp including all port charges and taxes for the 9/19 Royal Hounds Cruise Critic group cruise. That's an outstanding value for a ship of this caliber! Chuck & Phyllis Posted April 27, 2004 #173 Share Posted April 27, 2004 May 21st, Voyager 9 night 2588 total for three, inside deck 9. However, they have a Cat Z for 2 going for less than 870 pp total discounted. The price for 3 discounted is still over 3150. If your 2, you go cheap. If your 3, you pay more. If we got the Cat Z for 3, it would work out to about 2350. Go figure. Chuck & Phyllis Doing Voyager on 5/21/04 Doing Empress om 9/18/
RvrCrzr Posted April 27, 2004 #174 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Is a balcony cabin worth it??? I say...YES! True, you don't use it 24/7. It serves as a retreat when you get tired of being in the public eye. I like my privacy, and get tired of being around people all day. I like to spend time on deck, hearing the steel drums...don't get me wrong. But sometimes...I just get sick of people! It's nice to be able to get away, and sit on my balcony and watch the sea. It's a great place to sit in the morning, and have some coffee. Step out and watch the sun rise or set. There are a lot of reasons to love a balcony cabin. Try it, you might like it. woodz Posted April 27, 2004 #175 Share Posted April 27, 2004 NetMom, What do you do in MDW? Did you book your cruise thru interline? I have seen some killer rates this past week. Cruises from $35 per day. Too bad I can't be in two places at once. We really loved the Carribean and Voyager class ship. It is so cost effective to cruise with our teenagers and it is a real vacation for me. Our son eats way more than his cruise fare. We are hoping to book something in October during our fall break.
