What dive company for Princess on G. Cayman?

Why go on a cattle boat when there are so many good local operators.

Capt Marvin is an excellent choice. The pick up office is only a couple blocks from the tender pier. :

I'd recommend the "full Day" excursion.

I've only gone w/Marvin. Others are equally good. Capt Bryan is popular, too.

Another alternative is shore snorkeling from Eden Rock. It's a short stroll from the dock. There are lockers and a wet tank for rinse.

It's iron shore, so the snorkeling is excellent. The ladder entry from their deck is easy. You'll see their dive flag from your ship.

I wanted to know as our ship doesn't get in until 10am so i have missed most of other opportunites to do it by ourselves. If I go with the company the ship use - I can then use the same kit to continue after lunch ..... but thanks for the other recommendations.

What time does your ship sail?

Capt Marvin still offers an afternoon "half" day trip with three snorkel stops.

Have lunch on board. :p

Hi

Does anyone know what dive company Princess Cruises use on Grand Cayman?

thanks

Debi

It's been a couple of years since I was in Grand Cayman. Princess and NCL used to use Resort Sports Limited. They offered several options at the time: 1 tank to Stingray City,2 tank reef and wreck, and 2 tank North Wall and Stingray City--advertised as the world's best deep and shallow dive--I did this one twice on Princess and NCL.The North Wall is for advanced divers as the Wall starts at about 85 -90 feet at Eagel Ray Pass and has a sheer 500 foot dropwhich then supposedly slopes to 6000 feet. Singray City is basically a long safety stop at 18 feet max playing with the rays and a resident Green Moray.I really enjoyed both trips with Resort Sports and would certainly do it again. Hope this helps.

When we went in December of 2007 off of the Grand Princess they were using Don Foster's.

Don Foster's POed a lot of the divers as they dropped everyone off on the opposite side of the harbor. When I expressed my concern over this, they insisted that it was only four blocks and wanted to know if I had a problem with that.

Well, I can tell you that it was quite a long distance on foot, particularly with 50 pounds of scuba gear. It was so far, we had to stop several times to rest. Fortunately, we brought our wheeled duffles with us. Most did not. One guy actually had to carry both his and his wife's. We lost an hour dragging our gear around when we could have been enjoying ourselves in the port in the limited amount of time that we were docked.

To make matters worse, we actually saw one of their empty vans sitting in the cruiseship parking lot. Apparently, it was just too much trouble for them to have the van pick us up and drop us off after we had already paid for the dives.

I should have taken their tip back and used it to hire a cab for the trip back to the ship.

It is unlikely that I would dive with Don Foster's again on our own.
