tom_uk Posted January 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2009 It looks as if Arcadia is still in Southampton this morning - she should have sailed on her World Voyage at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. I gather the problem is to do with 'generators', but I don't know any more than that. Anyone else got any hard information?
MattyBarlow Posted January 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2009 The failure of a standby generator caused an extended stay in Barcelona resulting in skipping Vigo on the return journey to Southampton. Passengers have been given £100 each as a reimbursement. It looks as though the problems continue because toady (Jan 6th) she is still on 106. She was due to embark passengers for the World cruise yesterday (Jan 5th) afternoon. Suspect that it is still related to the standby generator but may be due to two air conditioning units overheating during the previous voyage. Bearly Afloat Posted January 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Perhaps they haven't stewed the vegetables for long enough yet?
Goldryder Posted January 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2009 I sense another Aurora Round The Wight Cruise.... She is awaiting bits from Italy... http://www.thisishampshire.net/news/hampshirenews/4023399.Cruise_ship_stranded_in_Southampton_Water/ If this goes pearshaped like Aurora did, it will cost millions in refunds & compensation...just like it did with Aurora, around £500m in lost revenue from the cancelled world cruise and subsequent cruises til she was fixed properly and refunding everyone. Azura could get put on hold if this turn into another debacle. You would think that after doing..or trying a world cruise after drydock with Aurora that they would never do it again. tom_uk Posted January 6, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks for the link, Goldryder. At least with a long voyage like this a missing day or so won't make much difference (once they get going).
