Calling Mr. Barbados! Need expert advice!

Barbados is our last island on a very port intensive itinerary. We are looking for a relaxing beach that we can get to for rather cheap (thinking public transportation), that might have snorkeling from the beach. While DH and I are an active young couple, we will be with an elderly couple, so something fairly quiet and accessible would be best! It would be nice if there was a place to get drinks/snacks and maybe have showers, but this would not be a necessity! Could you make a suggestion along with an explanation of how to get there/use public transportation from the ship/port?

I appreciate your opinion since you are the expert with lots of experience.
