nowake Posted January 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2009 Has anyone stayed at the Bahis Mar Beach Resort & Yachting Center pre - or post cruise with someone in a wheel chair...We like the location but have read that it is not really handicap friendly. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. We are looking for something not to expensive but a good location to walk around part of the day and for dinner. nowake Posted January 15, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted January 15, 2009 We are going on the Crown Princess and really looking forward to it. Sailing is March 1. Our 83 year old mother just loves going with us girls. This is the fourth we have done with her but the first with Princess. We have done CEL & RCI in the handicap cabins which have been great so now we will give Princess a try. What are you sailing on?

Putterdude Posted January 25, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2009 We just stayed at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper in an accessible room right on the FL beach. The hotel is getting a little tired but we had a great room looking down the beach and out at the Atlantic.
pugdog Posted February 4, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 4, 2009 We are currently staying at the Hyatt Place. It is about 6 blocks from the pier. It is very nice for wheelchair access. There are also several restaurants within walking distance. There is also a Publix about a block away. Plus they have a free shuttle to the airport, well they will call a wheelchair taxi and pay for it. And24 hour hot food on site.
CruisinOnWheels Posted February 7, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2009 Howdy from Texas... We have also been researching accessible hotels in FTL for a 2 day pre cruise stay and so far our short list is: Crown Plaze hollywood beach - about 8 miles from cruise port, but they have a zero entry pool and are located close to beach Lago Mar Resort - very good reviews, tropical beach front location where you can see the cruise ships enter/leave the port. Hyatt Regency Pier 66 - Celebrity uses them, they have ADA rooms. View of cruise port, accessible water taxi stops at hotel, several onsite restaurants, nice pool area. Embassy Suites FTL airport - close to cruise port, price includes free bfast each day. Riverside Hotel - older hotel, located on Las Olas blvd (shopping & restaurants) and not too far from cruise port and airport. Ritz Carlton - 2 miles from cruise port, more expensive than other hotels, but you get what you pay for... i.e. the Ritz Carlton level of service... they seemed to be very dedicated to meeting the needs of handicapped travelers.
