I will be on the Mariner in February 2005, but went on the Navigator last December, the Mariner's identical sister ship.

The refrigerator in our room (we didn't know if we would have one either) never got very cold and found the cooler we brought with us (which the room steward restocked with ice twice a day) kept the beer we bought in port a lot colder. Although we had asked our room steward to empty out the refrigerator, we didn't end up using it. Initially, I thought it was just our refrigerator that wasn't cold. But others we spoke to on the ship said the same thing about their's.

I'm glad we brought our cooler, so maybe you should consider bringing one also, if you plan to keep soda or beer cold. We brought a collapse-able one that didn't take up much room at all.

Yes, there is a mini refrigerator in each room. It is true that the fridge is not icy cold; However, it serves the purpose and the room attendant also supply (more than enough) ice every day.
