pijod Posted January 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2009 We were there years ago and spent the day at the Baths but saw nothing else.. What would be another worthy excursion. We love majestic views, and beautiful beaches....and a nice place for an ice cold bevvy! Thanks for the help.
tgg Posted February 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2009 We just got back, and had also been to The Baths. So we went to the tourist office and asked for a recommendation for a snorkeling beach. They recommended Savannah Bay Beach, which was a $5.00 per person cab ride - about 6 minutes away. You make arrangements to have a cab pick you up at an appointed time. We had a fantastic day. The beach is huge and there were 6 people there when we arrived at 10:00. (There were 16 when we left at 1:00.) There are about 6 or 7 palapas scattered down the beach on dunes, so if you want some real shade it is available. The snorkeling in the area nearest the entrance was uninteresting, so we moved toward the middle of the beach and tried again. BINGO. We found a reef teeming with fish, including stoplight parrotfish, trumpetfish, and a large turtle among other things. I was in the water for almost an hour. The variety of fish and coral was amazing. Note: There are no facilities of any kind at this beach, so you have to bring food and water and snorkelling gear. There are also no lifeguards. That said, if you want to have a beautiful beach all to yourself, with fantastic views and great snorkeling, this is the place to go. Enjoy!
