ChuckL Posted January 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2009 After spending the day in Nassau and dinner on our ship, we would like to go to the Atlantis Casino later in the evening. Do the slots accept bills, and if so, are US dollars accepted? If Bahamian dollars are needed, can we convert money at the casino, and should it be cash or do they accept US travellers checks? Also, should we win (ha-ha), can the winnings be paid back in US dollars? Will cabs be readily available at all hours to take us back to the pier? Is it safe to take a cab at night back to the pier? Your experience at the casino would also be most appreciated. Thanks!
ecpc1302 Posted January 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2009 We were there last week in the daytime so cannot speak to your questions about night, although you can take a cab from the pier to the door for $4 per person. The casino is very large and we used US Dollars. They are on the ticket system, you slip in your US money then cash out with a ticket, take it to a machine and recieve US dollars and/or coin or you can go to the cashier window to cash in your ticket. They also have ATM's dispensing US cash (don't know the fee). Very easy and no different that a large casino in the US. We had a great time there. BIG_Steve Posted January 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2009 We will be there on a Tuseday in April, during the day time. Does anyone know what the table minimums are for Craps and Blackjack? Are the slots "Reel" slots like in Las Vegas? Can you find 25 cents slot machines?
cabana Posted January 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Slots are like Vegas. Except they don't have a great variety. I didn't think they paid out too well but maybe it just me. Have a nice time and wander around as much as you can when your there. Nice place but starting to look a little worn. JMHO

I heard that the minimums at Atlantis were rather high... $25 or more to start with maybe one $10 table. Crystal Palace what $5 tables.
bajathree Posted January 27, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2009 Yes, slots are like Vegas. They do take US dollars. The minimums at the table are quite high in the evening... you may be hard pressed to find a table under $25....limits in daytime are usually lower but still I believe nothing under $10 at tables. Eliot Ness Posted January 28, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 28, 2009 ............we would like to go to the Atlantis Casino later in the evening. Is it safe to take a cab at night back to the pier? Your experience at the casino would also be most appreciated. Thanks! We were there back in December and I took a journey over to the casino at Atlantis for bit after dinner. Here's the deal on taxi's to get over there at night (it is very safe). As you walk toward the port you'll be approached by someone asking if you want a taxi. They try to get about 5 or so people to keep the fares down. That night they only took me and two guys from another ship but charged us a $1 more each (maybe $4 or $5 pp). When I left there were taxi drivers outside waiting, but once again to avoid paying the whole fare by myself I just waited about 15 minutes for 2 or 3 more to show up. The slots took US dollars and spit out a slip when you cashed out. That slip could be used in other machines or used to cash out in US dollars. The casino is much larger than on the cruise ship and I thought the slots paid a lot better. I didn't get rich but left about $100 over what I took in. A tour driver told us earlier in the day that Nassau did not allow locals to gamble there. I enjoyed the casino and felt entirely safe in the taxis. The only thing I thought was strange is Nassau seemed like a ghost town that night. Granted it was a weeknight, but you would have thought it was 3 or 4 in the morning due to the lack of activity and other vehicles on the road. msboo18 Posted April 12, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 12, 2009 How long does it take to get from the pier to the Atlantis casino? Are there free drinks if you're gambling (like Vegas)?? Once there, can you walk around the resort?

Once there, can you walk around the resort? It's about a 5-10 min. taxi ride... drinks are free while gambling... you can wander the casino and front lobby area... after 6ish or 7ish you can see the aquarium (which costs $35 during the day) but not the grounds/pools/beach. If you are going for gambling I would suggest trying the Crystal Palace as an alternative... seems looser and table game stakes are a good bit lower. bobsfamily Posted May 14, 2015 #14 Share Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) How far is Crystal Palace from the ship....Also seen where someone said the aquairim is free after 5 pm??? is this true This thread is so old that the Crystal Palace does not exist anymore.... Baha Mar is the casino/resort that is replacing it. although it's still not open. It was supposed to open in Dec, then March, May and now first of July... Years and years ago(like 2009) sometimes you could wander in after 5pm as the guard would just leave.... not the case in several years, in fact other than the main entrance and the casino it's a no go for everywhere else. Where in the heck did you find this? Some things should be locked! Edited May 14, 2015 by bobsfamily
