Ship Time vs Port Time - March - Western Caribbean

Tn Travelers

Recommended Posts

We are booked on the Pearl out of Miami in March. DaylightStandardTime (EDT) starts March 5 in the USA. Roatan also starts DST (CDT) in March but Belize does not use DST (stays on CST) and Cozumel does not switch to DST (CDT) until April.

When we cruised on the Majesty out of Charleston, SC - ship time was EST and remained at that throughout the cruise.

I've heard that for cruises out of Miami, FL that the ship time is adjusted after Day 1 to agree with the local time at the port (and then back again before reaching Great Stirrup Cay). Is this correct?? How will this work with the situation where one port is on CDT and the others are on CST? Will they change ship time for each port, so our in port times match the local time?

I really need to figure this out in order to book shore excursion times (to assure we are back onboard on time).
