libby10205 Posted January 28, 2009 #101 Share Posted January 28, 2009 When I booked for Feb 2010 - I forgot to tell the agent that my name was different in 1991 when I took my only other Carnival Cruise. Does it take an act of Congress to get it straight now for the future trip in 2010- i.e. did I make a huge mistake? THe same sort of thing happened to me. You are lucky to find out after just 2 cruises. My PVP had to get it fixed for me. Cal and start working on it sometime other than when you are ready to go. It may take a little time to fox. Cal and start working on it sometime other than when you are ready to go. It may take a little time to fox. Thank you for responding. I do have a year, so hopefully that will be enough time. I went to Carnival site and started the process there, but still had to send an email to person in charge of "past guests". Time will tell!!! :)
MVSgeek Posted February 3, 2009 #103 Share Posted February 3, 2009 There were always plenty of chairs in the sun on the sun deck during our cruise. The only time it was crowded was when we were leaving port. Granted there is no pool, food or drinks there. I don't have a problem with someone who after being in the sun for 30 minutes or longer leaves their stuff on the chair for 30-40 minutes while they go eat and or get something from their room. My problem is with the people that stake out a chair at 8:00 am, go to breakfast, head ashore and go to the beach, come back onboard to eat, go take a nap in their cabin, shower, change, go back ashore to shop for alcohol to be smuggled back on the ship, come back onboard, change and go to "their" chair for 15 minutes of sun between 3:45 and 4:00 then go back to their cabin. I say that anything that is left for over an hour should be lovingly placed into the nearest waste receptacle. :D
mariemorgan Posted February 3, 2009 #104 Share Posted February 3, 2009 There is no past guest party on a 4 day cruise. I don't know about the 5 day cruises. We always attend, by invitation delivered to our cabin, on the 7 day ones! Yes there is a past guest party on a 5 day.
puablo Posted February 3, 2009 #105 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Not many first (and 2nd and 3rd) timers know that the Sushi is free. Not every ship has a Sushi bar but if your ship does...it's free. They are only open for a few hours every day so watch your capers. This might depend on the cruise line and where you get it. For example, on NCL they had a sushi bar that was $15 for all you can eat made to order sushi, but then at their buffet they had unlimited free sushi that was quite good. But there was no surprise there - buffet free, sushi bar $.
sakapfet Posted February 3, 2009 #106 Share Posted February 3, 2009 I believe that women can get "feminine napkins" for free. With 40 to 60% of cruise passengers being senior citizens, Carnival should offer free Vi*gra.

A&Jfamily Posted February 3, 2009 #117 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Doesn't this border a bit on stealing? Or is there some code at sea that says it's okay? Its found in the same code where people seem to think it is ok to get up at 5 am, put some stuff on chairs, go back to bed and not return until the afternoon. It's rude to be a chair hog; don't expect to receive respect when you have not demonstrated any. PS - the original comment was a joke....

an1864girl Posted February 3, 2009 #119 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Here's a question. DH has sailed on NCL and has a past guest number; I have not. Does he go to "special party" alone, or can he bring a date (hopefully me)?? Thanks!

After I told the young man at the counter I had bought a bottle of Louis XIII cognac on a prior cruise, he invited me to a private tasting. DW and I with 3 other people sipped VSOP cognac while they talked about all the different things they were featuring. At the end we were told we could purchase any of the items for a 10% discount. Don't know if they do that on all ships, but I'll be looking for another invite on the Spirit in March

Cruise, J.D. Posted February 3, 2009 #124 Share Posted February 3, 2009 I've not read through the entire thread so this may have been mentioned, but I've seen a second free liquor tasting towards the end of a cruise. The selection was more limited for the second one.
rv gypsy Posted February 4, 2009 #125 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Purser's Desk is a great place for free, useful stuff: Aspirin Ibuprofen Neosporin Bandaids Pepto-Bismol Seasickness pills Etc, etc, etc. Pretty much anything you'd want is available there. They also will give you a free Carnival deck of cards there, if you get bored. Oh, and I got a free drink the last time I was on the Victory, because I was asking the bartender (the bar was empty) to make an 'unknown" drink, ie, I listed ingredients/amounts and he fixed me one. One of my local bar's recipes. Man, those things are so good. I think he wanted to make sure it was "right", and let me have it for free. Not all cruise lines offer free meds at purser desk. I had to go to sick bay and pay for seasick pills. On Princess no free specialty drinks in dining room. not all cruise lines are the same and more are going to ala carte for everything.
