Upgrades with a group

My TA called Carnival to ask how much an upgrade/upsell would be to go from a 6B to a balcony. Carnival told my TA that you can't upgrade/upsell when you are booked with a group. This is my first cruise and I think I would really enjoy a balcony to get away with my husband from some in our group. Is there any chance of upgraded at the port when we check in. I am on the Sensation 2/22/09.

I have booked two group cruises. The only way to get our perks was to be one in of the cabin categories we reserved. We only booked a limited number of cabins in each category, when they were gone, they were gone.

 

Since the Sensation only has a few balconies and you want to get away from 'certain' people, could you get you cabin assignment moved? Same category just another location.
