Renting a car?

Has any one just rented a car for the day and drive around the island? If so what is there to see that taking a tour wouldn't show us?

We were wondering the same thing.We plan to go parasailing,but also wanted to go to Rum Pointe,and do some shopping. We just want to be able to see a little bit of everything. We like the freedom you have when you have your own vehicle.

Thought I would mention that they drive on the left side of the road. It may not matter to you but thought I would mention it. We have been there 3 times and have never rented a car but I have heard of others that have.

Rented a car when we were there for a week and it was great. Really enjoyed the freedom and it was easy to get around (except one area in Georgetown near the airport - we always managed to get turned around there:o) We're thinking about renting a car for the day when we're there in March so we can go back to Rum Point. The roads are fairly rural and not too busy at all so it wasn't stressful driving.
