Victoria cruise stop suggestions - 5-12 at night

Coming for a night on a cruise and were thinking of going to Buchart Gardens but have heard the lighting isn't good enough to really appreciate the flowers. We are a group of 8 so it is quite a bit of money to spend if it isn't going to be worth it. Any thoughts are welcomed! Thanks!

We were only in Victoria for a day trip (took the Victoria Clipper r/t from Seattle), but there are numerous shops, restaurants, etc near the waterfront. Very quaint area.

If you have time, you must see the Empress Hotel. It's right on the waterfront as well. I'm sure their famous "tea" service will have ended for the day, but the old gal is mighty impressive!

Butchart Gardens are very well illuminated at night and well worth a visit. Otherwise you may just enjoy take a shuttle into the Inner Harbour area(about $6 or $7 p/p), it stops in front of the Empress Hotel and doing your own walking tour, take in the Empress, the lights of the provincial legislature building, in the summer enjoy the buskers on the esplanade of the Inner Harbour, a walk on Government St to enjoy some of the quaint shops, and perhaps visit a pub or 2 along the way. Failing that there are a couple of horse drawn carriage services that are fun:

What is the date of your cruise? If it's during June to August, it stays light late enough for you to appreciate both the flowers and the beautiful light illumination at Butcharts.
