Are Cruises to Nowhere worth it??

I Luv Crusin

Recommended Posts

I've noticed that there is a cruise to nowhere out of Norfolk next Oct. I was thinking of "surprising" my DH and kidnap him for the weekend.

We are mid-40's, and not really party animals but like a good time.

Has anyone done one of these? Any comments???

GEEZ, haven't even done our next cruise and I'm trying to plan another!!!!

My husband and I just went on the Miracle CTN and we had a great time. The only drawback was the casino was always packed. I love Blackjack and could never find an open seat. All the shows are crammed into the 2 days, and it is just a fun filled weekend. I did not see any of the drunks I heard about just old and young having a good time. I think you should do it and you will be glad you went. I know I was.

I love cruising and have done a CTN twice with a friend from work whose husband doesn't want to cruise. They are a lot of fun, and a really nice getaway. It can be a little pricey, the shorter the cruise, the higher the price (per day). We went to the 2 production shows, plus three by the comedians. We did the Victory out of Norfolk in Oct. and again in June. Oct. was fairly cool, but June was pretty nice. There were a lot of people, but certainly no wild parties or drunks like some would lead you to believe.

The only CTN I went on was a 'last-minute', two-day-notice cruise (due to hurricane disruption of schedule) on the Holiday in September. There were lots of families and folks who had never cruised before. Good idea, to see if they'd like a longer cruise.

They had both production shows, and all kinds of activities. I thought they had the two best menus, as well.....featuring lobster one night and filet mignon the next. For $99, it was a deal I couldn't pass up. (Can't get a hotel and meals for ONE night for that price, much less two.)

I wouldn't do it again, because of the hassle of embarking/disembarking, carrying own luggage, etc. But while on the ship, had a great time!

I just went on the first sailing out of Tampa on the Miracle CTN and it was a great weekend get away. I couldn't go for the week because my dd is in school. There was lots of food, fun and festivity. The best weekend I have had in awhile. How do you spend your weekend? If CTN were offered more often I might do it again.

It depends. The scheduled CTN's out of NYC are overpriced: you could go any number of places for the weekend for less (including food and entertainment)

Occationally there are deals that make it worth your while.

Also, realize these are only a day away and your off the ship pretty early on the last day, no lingering I'm afraid. Also check the boarding times, many CTN's don't board until late.

For less money (for the cruise itself) you could do a four nighter out of Port Canaveral. You can frequently find pretty cheap airfare from VA (and surrounds) to Orlando. Shoot, just kidnap him for a couple of extra days and have TWICE the fun!!

We just sailed on the CTN out of NY on the Legend for just under $700 for both of us and we had a blast!!!! I would do it again in a heartbeat even though the water was extremely rough for this one. It was just one big party and everyone had a good time!!

I went on the CTN in September on the Holiday. It was great! I have been on cruises before (and leaving this Sunday on the Conquest), and I thought it was well worth the money. I did suffer from a really bad sunburn and didn't enjoy my dinner on the second night. The dining room was so cold and I was burned so much that I couldn't stop shivering. The shivering made me sick and couldn't eat. So, please bring lots of sunscreen!!!!

Go . . . you'll have a great time.

We were also on the CTN out of NYC.We bought the cabin way in advance and paid 250 per person for 4 in a cat 5 (french doors with a view of the life boats). We had a great time, not being from NY it was nice seeing the sights on the way out of the port.two of the folks with us had never cruised before and they can't wait to go again. And although we had said this would be our last cruise for awhile I just booked the Glory for july 2nd.All in all we all thought this was a great weekend getaway.

My DD and I did a CTN on the Victory last June. We had a great time, but I would have a difficult time justifying the price again. It was good for us because she has two small children and my SIL was a good sport and was home with the girls for the weekend while we were away. When I compare it to the 5 day trip last month on the Sensation the CTN was way overpriced.
