Pepperwood Posted February 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Hi, on the day we are in port England are playing Cricket at Windward Park, Lucas Street. can anybody tell me how far this is from the port Thanks Windward Park is in the Parish of St. Philip, in the southeast section of Barbados, just to the north of the village of Work Hall. It is about 20-25 miles from Bridgetown, and is less than a mile from Highway 5, so it should not be hard to get to. Go to google.com, click on "Maps", switch to "Satellite" and enter "Lucas Street, Barbados". You will clearly see a circular patch of green lying between Lucas Street and Work Hall. Zooming in on this reveals it to be the cricket oval--you can even see the pitch in the centre of the oval. Go Windies!

Pepperwood Posted February 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Considering the distance would be a fair cost to take a cab. any other ideas on how to get there bus maybe ? There are several types of buses, the following info regards government-operated Transport Board buses (blue with yellow stripe): The cost is $1.50 pp each way. The Route 10 bus from the Fairchild St terminal in Bridgetown leaves at the top of the hour, with the occasional bus also leaving on the half-hour. This bus makes a stop at Lucas St. and Congo Rd., right at the cricket oval. Transit time from Bridgetown to the oval would be approx. 45 min. The bus returning to Bridgetown passes by Lucas St. hourly, but I don't know what time during the hour. (Make sure you get on a bus returning to Bridgetown, not another outbound bus.) If you miss the bus you need to get back to Bridgetown in time, there should be lots of taxis and private buses hanging around due to the match. Full disclosure: I have not personally taken this bus. Do not plan your visit around the above info without double-checking current bus schedules and routes when you arrive in Barbados.
