Cab from Vancouver Airport to Downtown

Does anyone know approximately what the charge is for a cab from Vancouver airport to downtown--I'm not sure which hotel I'm booking yet but it will be either the "downtown entertainment district" or "downtown" using Hotwire's description.

 

Also, should I have Canadian money when I arrive or will US dollars work?

Your cab fare with tip should be just under $35. Yes they will take US currency but don't expect the correct exchange rate...right now the rate is about 18 cents in your favour, you will be lucky to get 10 cents from a cabby and your change will be in CDN. I often recommend with people planning to spend a few days in Vancouver, like you, that they go to an ATM or currency exchange at YVR and get some CDN funds that way you will get an honest exchange rate, remembering there is a buy rate and a sell rate.
