I don't think it's a secret that credit card companies charge a conversion fee. This isn't something that is unique for only Canadians or people from the UK. If an American is using their credit card for a purchase that is not in US dollars, there will likely be a conversion fee as well.

I have a Nationwide CC as there is no conversion charge. When booking a cruise (have cruised RCCL, NCL and Carnival), there is an option on our Sea Pass as to whether we want our card company to convert $ into £ or the cruise line. Obviously I always pick my own card co to do this due to the fact that there no charge. The Post Office in the UK also offer a CC that has no conversion charge. It is surprising how the charges can add up!

Posted this because on the RCCL site it clearly says if you use a card that has "dynamic currency conversion" they have no control and its up to you to duke it out with the card company. Sounds like it does not matter about checking which currency you want on the seapass because the charges will be automatic with this kind of card.I only used the nationwide because they explained it pretty good,but there are other cards out there also. Thought some of these people might want to check their cards if they did not know about this because of how RCCL address it on their site.

My Amex charge card doesnt charge me for converting my seapass charges from $$ to ££ and it isnt a Nationwide card.

 

I just tick box B online and highlight it on my paperwork before check in and never had a problem :D
