Baby Monitors?

has anyone used Baby Monitors on a cruise? do they work from a couple of doors down?

I brought and used our Angelcare monitor (sound only, not the motion sensor pad) and it worked on the balcony and in the room next door (my ILs room).

DH and I had a balcony, 4 kids across the hall.... I loved to sleep to the sound of their steady breathing-made me knew all was right! My kids were 12,10, 9 and 8. I don't use it anymore-girls are in a connecting balcony and DS is 16 1/2 and a GREAT kid.

thanks. my BIL is a couple of doors down and was hoping that the monitors would work.

We actually use a set of walkie-talkies that have a monitor function. They worked well last year. We had them set up that my kids would have to actually be talking for us to hear them, which is fine.
