3-night Sky questions

This thread is for those who have cruised on the Sky for the 3-night weekend cruise...NOT the 4-night cruise.

I've seen Dailies from September, and they had only one show listed per night, but someone last week (who took the 4-nighter) mentioned that there was only one showing of the "Welcome Aboard" show on the first night, but that the other nights had two showings per night.

Is that true for the 3-nighter? If so, do you happen to remember what time the shows began? Was it 8 pm when there was only 1 show per night, and then 7 and 9 pm when there were two?

Also, do you happen to know which night they do the cake and sparkling wine party for those who bought the Anniversary package? I know they generally do this on one of the sea days, but there are no sea days on the Sky.

Thanks!

I can give more details when I get home and view my dailies but there was only one show per night. Welcome aboard, broadway style show and comedian last night. If its the same show on the second night when we were on 2 weeks ago, skip it. It was the worst show I have ever seen.

Can't comment on the anniv package but probably on the second night.

Thanks, ugen.

If you happen to look at the Dailies, could you also check and see if they're still doing the special where if you put $250 down for your next cruise **on the first day** then not only do you get $100 OBC, but they also have other specials you can take advantage of, including free snorkel rentals in GSC if you book a shore excursion for Nassau?

(I saw this in the Dailies from a fall Sky cruise and wondered whether this was still going on.)

Interesting that you ask about shows. Maybe I'm blind, but I read the Dailies over and over and never saw anything about a show the first night (Friday) so we went to the casino and then back to our cabin. The next morning on the t.v. was the video from Friday night's show. This is probably the only area that I can find fault with NCL and that's that the Dailies really could be more user-friendly. All other lines I've sailed have had an easy-to-use daily paper. I find NCL's daily to contain more about shopping and advertising and annoying inserts. Believe me when I say that's my only complaint about NCL. They are tops in all other areas!;)

No, I know that if you put down $250 whenever you're on board, you get the $100 OBC. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about an *additional* special that they'd advertised in the Dailies back in September, where if you put down the $250 on the first day, then you would get free snorkel rental on Great Stirrup Cay as long as you'd ALSO booked a shore excursion for Nassau.

The reason this had to be done the first day, is because Nassau was on the second day. Therefore, if you didn't put your $250 down on the first day, then you couldn't take advantage of the free snorkeling equipment in Great Stirrup Cay (3rd day) for booking a shore excursion for Nassau (2nd day). The free snorkel rental was *in addition* to the $100 OBC, which is just the regular deal.

But anyway, this was just something that was advertised in the Dailies this fall, and since nobody who has cruised recently seems to have any idea what I'm talking about, I assume this means that they're no longer doing this. So I presume that the regular $100 OBC special is the only deal they currently have.

That's all I wanted to know. Thanks!

Don't know because we didn't buy the anniversary package for this sailing.

Thanks!

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Shows are always listed on the front page, on the top left hand side. This is the area where they "highlight" the special things.

I checked my Daily from Friday and it's there.

We've sailed Sky, both, the 3 day and the 4 day. We took the 3 days a few weeks ago, and there was only 1 show a night. The Welcome Aboard show was at 9:00pm the first night. I'm not sure of the time of the show on the 2nd night. The last night was a Comedy Show, and it was at 8:00pm.

I'm not quite sure of why on the 4 day cruises, they have 2 shows a night, and on the 3 day, there's only 1 show a night. Whether it's a 3 night or 4 night, there's still the same amount of passengers on the ship.

I'm going to guess that their past experience with the 3-night is that less passengers go to the shows because it's a weekend cruise. I'm just guessing, but maybe on the weekend cruises, drinking, dancing, and gambling is a more popular pastime than going to the shows???

On our 3 night, people were actually having to stand in the back of the upper sections of the theater to see it because all the seats were full. We had to get at the show 45 minutes early in order to get seats where 6 people could sit next to one another.

The casino was never at full capacity. We could go in at any time and find a slot machine somewhere. And at Outriggers where all the Karaoke was at night, the majority of the time, it was pretty much empty. Where the heck were all the people??????? ;) The ship, both times we went, was at full capacity.

Hmmm...that's very frustrating. I'm definitely someone who goes to the shows and could care less about the karaoke or casino, so I would be sad to have to stand in the back or miss the show entirely.

I wonder why they only do 1 show per night then?
