Has anyone experienced new departure procedure - "As You Depart"?

We just got off the Adventure on Feb 1st. They used a number system. 1-20. We received number 4 8:50-9:10. We went to the costumer service desk and switched to 20 10:25-10:45. We ate breakfast and then went to the pool deck and relaxed. The only announcements we heard were for people to go the CR desk. The odd numbers went to the Theater at the specified time and the even numbers went to Studio B. Once at your area. Listen for your number. They called a number every 10-15 min. Then someone leads you to the debarkation area. We went to Studio B at 10:30 and waited for our number to be called and we were off the ship and picked up our luggage by about 11:00. Very smooth and less hectic. We could of stayed in our room longer but we wanted our steward to have enough time to finish all of his rooms with out having to rush and we liked waiting on the pool deck, hardly anyone up there.

Also after they called our number, they had U.S. citizens go one way and others go another way so they had to lines leading out to the debarkation area of the ship.

Sailed on the 01/11/09 Explorer of the Seas 12 night and we went back to the cabin after breakfast and stayed there until 10:15. They turned off all of the channels on the TV, every channel was just displaying the colors and waiting area assignments. Went to our assigned dining room at 10:30 and there was a delay from there. We finally got to disembark at about 11:30 or so. Our cruisemates were all diamonds and got off TWO hours before us and had to wait at the first rest stop on the NJ turnpike for us to catch up!

  • 2 weeks later...

Would be very interested in hearing mroe feedback about this. It really seesm like a great idea...not so much if you have an inside cabin unless you're sleeping but to just lounge on your balcony a little longer sounds perfect rather than vacating at the crack of dawn.

Are you allowed to sit up by the pool?

We will be leaving the Explorer on the morning of the 17th April. As non US citizens will we be allowed to disembark around 9am -9.30am? Our flight back to the UK is not until 6pm so any less time spent in the airport is good for me.

My husband and I were on the 1/3/09 sailing on the Serenade. We had a nice breakfast in the Windjammer and returned to our cabin and left the cabin at 9:45. Wonderful!!! We took our time because we had a late flight out of San Juan.

That is strange! We were sailed on Serenade 1/24. I had heard about the new process so asked at the guest relations desk about staying in the cabin and was told that we needed to be out by 8 am.

Guess you don't ask!
