SallyMay Posted November 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2004 What is and how do you attain VIP boarding? Just curious - have seen some passengers board before everyone else. Is this something speical (I assume)?
M.S JAZO Posted November 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2004 Ya its something special for those speical people who are willing to fork out a few thousand more for a Suite or Penthouse Suite.
Vidimom Posted November 21, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 21, 2004 Also those that are getting married on board the ship board early to prepare for the wedding. There may also be TA's touring the ship while it's in port. Even with Skipper's status, it doesn't get you on the ship any earlier.
SallyMay Posted November 21, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted November 21, 2004 Thanks, was just curious.
nosnobunny Posted November 21, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 21, 2004 If you do have a suite, are there signs in the terminal to direct you to the proper place? Beth
SallyMay Posted November 21, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted November 21, 2004 We do have a suite on the Sensation coming up in April. I am doing this for DH in celebration of over 40 years together. Was cheaper to get suite on Verandah deck than balcony on Upper deck. Couldn't figure this one out.
CoachTerry14 Posted November 21, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2004 Ya its something special for those speical people who are willing to fork out a few thousand more for a Suite or Penthouse Suite. I have sailed Carnival 10 times (all Cat. 12)...used the Skipper's Club 9 times and never received Priority boarding. Usually the people getting on are part of a wedding party or they are travel agents touring the ship - They do get off before the ship leaves! iamirish Posted November 21, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2004 It is one of the perks for joining their "time-share" program, which includes priority check-in and priority debarkation. The cost ranges from $3,495 to $9,995, depending which "package" you buy. Tom
GoinCruisin Posted November 21, 2004 #9 Share Posted November 21, 2004 One of the couples in our group in October were on the ship an hour before us... they used Skippers Club boarding and breezed past us :( This was in New Orleans... but they didn't pay a few thousand more, just several hundred :D
SallyMay Posted November 21, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted November 21, 2004 Well, don't belong to the "Skippers Club" and can not afford the "time share". LOL. This will probably be once in a life time thing for us. Went from Empress deck up for a several more hundred. Heaven forbid not thousands. GoinCruisin Posted November 21, 2004 #11 Share Posted November 21, 2004 SallyMay, the Skippers Club isn't something you "belong" to... since you have a Suite, you should have Skippers Club on your docs and you will get priority boarding in New Orleans... you will see a large sign towards the back of the terminal that says "Skippers Club"... Good luck and have a great time!!!
SallyMay Posted November 21, 2004 Author #12 Share Posted November 21, 2004 Thanks, GoinCruisin, I didn't know that. I thought you had to join or something. Little do I know. LOL This will be a new experience for us. If we have as much fun as you did, I know I'll enjoy cruising on the Sensation.
LMHSRN Posted November 21, 2004 #13 Share Posted November 21, 2004 You paid less for your suite because it is much smaller than the suites on the upper deck. Also the Balcony is about half the size as the upper deck balconies. On the Verandah deck, you do not have any Privacy. Your Balcony opens up to view a open deck below. anyone walking on the deck below you can see into your cabin and observe all happenings on your balcony. All in all, you will love it anyways. You can sit out on the balcony and see all the sights and sounds going by as well as what the ship is passing. Enjoy!!!
SallyMay Posted November 21, 2004 Author #14 Share Posted November 21, 2004 That's Ok, it a balcony. Just to walk outside will be a treat. Will just have to be a little careful. LOL Thanks for the info

Runner Girl Posted November 22, 2004 #16 Share Posted November 22, 2004 Doesn't seem worth it to me, just to get on board an hour or so early.
SallyMay Posted November 23, 2004 Author #17 Share Posted November 23, 2004 Oh no, RunnerGirl I didn't get a suite just to get on early. I was just asking the question. This is a gift to my husband as a surprise.:p
tef43 Posted November 23, 2004 #18 Share Posted November 23, 2004 Was cheaper to get suite on Verandah deck than balcony on Upper deck. Couldn't figure this one out.:rolleyes:Not too difficult to figure out. The Cat 12's on the U deck are significantly larger than the Cat 11s on Verandah deck. SSSkipper Posted November 23, 2004 #19 Share Posted November 23, 2004 Diane, they do not have the Skipper's Club in San Diego:( . Some ports do not have it, and San Diego is one of them.. Your other ? about people traveling with you able to use the Skipper's Club...sometimes they let them and other times they do not...It really depends on the person working there at that time...I have heard from other people that sometimes they were allowed on with them and other times they were told they were not.
