Is it feasible/safe/easy to hire a taxi for 2 adults & 2 children from the Carnival pier to Chichen Itza and back? How many dollars?

I don't know an exact price of a taxi from Progreso to Chichen Itza and back, but I would guess about $200US each way - there are tolls on the highway and gas costs to consider. I think you'd be much better off taking a tour.

Doing a taxi tour to Chichén Itza is USD$200 for A CAR, up to four person, and the price is for the round trip, just consider you have to pay for the entrance fee to the site USD$9 or $10 per adult, kids from 1-10 do not pay, in case you want a guide you have to hire him at the entrance of the site.
