Bar crawl and color wars - are these still around?

My last Carnival cruise was 4 years ago on Valor. The bar crawl (one night) and the cruise-long color wars (red vs.white vs.blue, assigned via your dining table) were especially memorable activities. Just wondering if I can look forward to these on my upcoming Splendor cruise? Thank you!

Conquest had both.

I think the color wars thing is quite lame. For the events that I saw most of the times when the emcee or whomever was hosting the event asked the winner(s) what color team they were on the universal response was "huh?"

Even the events/activities that were held towards the end of the week many passengers had no clue what so called colored team they were on. Adding to the lameness was that they gave hundreds and sometimes even thousands of points for certain events. There was generally never any set key or point of reference.

During the final show when they announced the winner of the color wars there was a lot of hype and they made it seem like the olympics or some grammy awards show which made the whole color war thing even lamer. Most in the crowd still didnt know what team they were on. Im almost certain that points were never really tallied or kept track of. The performers just decide that afternoon and say "hey hows about we make the "PUT WINNING COLOR IN HERE" team win this week!"

Maybe it was just the cruise i was on but all in all, IMHO....LAME!

They did not do a pub crawl on Splendor's New Years cruise... however they did do the color wars which I really find cheesy. To their credit, they didn't make as big a deal about the color wars as they did on some of my previous Carnival cruises.

The color war is lame.

On our 1st cruise of 2008, red, white, blue based on which section you sat in the dining rooms. There was a lot of talk about the colors.

On our 2nd Carnival cruise of 2008, there were two colors instead of three, and the color you belonged to was determined by the side of the ship your cabin was on. Thankfully the color thing wasn't mentioned as much as on previous cruises.

Just off the Conquest. Colors for the color war were assigned by deck. Don't believe the colors were ever mentioned in the dining room (which was a nice change). Similar to other posts, when winners of contests were asked what team they were on, they had no idea.

There also weren't big "color updates" on the PA system as there had been in the past, which was another relief. Don't know who actually won, and definitely don't care....

to add to the lameness I remember the following:

5000 points for color team that had the hairiest back and chest person

300 points for the color team that had best free throw shooter

when i was on Conquest mid january and they were announcing the winners the emcees/hosts on stage even proceeded to playfully chase one another with the color flags and try to stick them up each others you know what....

i thought it was funny but i know there were the more conservative people who were sitting in my area that thought it was immature and of course LAME.

Freedom sailing 12/28 didn't have Pub Crawl but last year Feb. the Fantasy did. I thought it was only because of Mardi Gras. It was so much fun, wish they did it on all ships.

I do not recall the color wars on either of those ships and didn't miss it at all. As others mentioned, no one even knows their color, points are ramdonly given out, etc. Just seemed like an excuse to get people to scream & yell in the pretense of having "fun." If they're going to do it - do it right & play it up as more of a teen activity to get them involved in stuff rather than roaming & left to their own devices. But if done as a general activity, I'd like to see it totally gone.

Can someone tell me how the Pub Crawl works?

On the Fantasy they has us meet at the piano bar, did a few sing along songs, threw beads out to people going on the crawl. Then the group, with a staff leading us, headed to a guy that was playing outside the casino area. The group leader brought out a limbo pole & had a contest with the winner getting who knows what...maybe a drink...don't even know if there was a prize. Everyone danced & more beads thrown out to everyone. Continued along like this. Was fun - didn't spend a lot of time at each place which was good because it kept the group together & moving.
