Review of Turtle Cove Snorkeling Trip and Sapphire Beach

I arrived in St. Thomas on Serenade of the Seas. I had originally booked the Sea Blaster trip, which was cancelled. With only one ship in port, this happens a lot. Only one not all day snorkel trip was not cancelled, it was the one that goes to turtle cove off Buck Island.

The water was a little cool to me. It was warmer once we got to St. Martin. At Turtle cove, there were lots of turtles. Big ones too. So, if you want to snorkel with turtles, this is the trip. There were few other fish and not much of a reef. I did see one large barracuda that hanging out under another boat. Since I like snorkeling were the reefs are great, this trip wasn't my favorite. That's why I didn't pick it as my first choice.

After returning, I took a taxi to Saphire Beach, $10 per person. From this point on, it rained most of the day. The snorkeling was not very good. I swam out to the point also. Most coral was dead and there were few fish. I was disappointed since this beach gets good reviews for snorkeling. For snorkel lovers, I would pick a different beach to go to.
