Tender question. (NCL Spirit)

We do not have a ship excursion booked, we booked something on our own. What are the chances of us getting on the 1st tender? I printed out our confirmation letter from our tour operator hoping that it will help us. I am traveling with 48 people, so we all really need to be on the 1st tender. I hope I'm not just wishful thinking!

you will, most likely, get better NCL answers on the NCL board...but the way NCL works:

the 1st tender will be VIP, suite passengers and NCL excursions. any seats left will for the 1st tender tickets passed out. the 2nd tender, which docked at the gangway as soon as the 1st tender left, fill quickly (also).

now, since you are part of a group...is anyone in touch with the group events corrdinator for the spirit? with a large group, i would think that the groups event person should be able to arrange things for you?

or is someone in a suite?

when i did the spirit (on that route), a year ago...VIPs and suite passengers will escorted to the gangway by the conceirge, the NCL tours met in the theater and went down to the gangway as their tours were called. on our cruise, they were very strict about it. had the stairwells marked off with security at each landing (to prevent line jumping).

at this late date, your best bet will be to talk to someone at the customer service desk on the ship.

for tender tickets, they start giving them out about an hour before they start letting people on the tenders, about 7am in the lobby (deck 7). one person can get all the tender tickets for the whole group.

the tenders hold about 150 people at a time. to get everyone, to shore, in a timely manner..for 1st several tenders are waiting for the gangway to drop. one will dock, load and leave and another tender will take it's place. the difference between the 1st tender, getting to port, and the 2nd tender is less then a 1/2 an hour?

1st tender leaves the ship about 8:15.

I was aboard the Veendam in January. my impression was that the first tenders were utilized by those who had booked tours through HAL and that required considerable time ashore.
