more dune buggy questions

My husband and I are considering doing the Dune Buggy excursion through Carnival...does anyone out there know if it's a good deal? Are there any private companies that do this tour so we could rent our own, or is this the kind of thing you would recommend doing through the ship?

Don't know about independents, but we did it through Carnival and it was a blast!

Hey, bandtaxi (and anyone else that has done this excursion) can you tell me a little bit more about your experience? For instance, were you all in a line with the buggys where you can't pass anyone, or can you drive them around and have fun? And is the scenery interesting? What made it "fun?" for you guys? And about how much did it cost?

 

Our plan is to do this excursion along with just hanging out on the beach/eating/drinking and maybe a little shopping.
