ABcruisers Posted February 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any experience or thoughts on the possible positive outcome when selecting an OV GTY but still hoping for an upgrade to a suite. In the past, I booked a Balcony guarantee on the Triumph as was pleasanty surprised to be upgraded to a suite (category 11); however, with the ship I'm currently booked on, the Elation, there are no balcony rooms, only ocean view and suites. I know I could receive a very small porthole window vs a larger window but is crossing my fingers worth the risk? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Janice
BrendaB1 Posted February 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2009 With so few balconies on that class of ship, very unlikely. Anything is possible but probably not.
*Mach* Posted February 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Realistically, expect to get what you paid for and you won't be dissappointed... We've seen people post that they booked a guarantee and got what they booked and were unhappy. On a Fantasy class ship expect to stay where you are... KenMo Posted February 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2009 I did get upgraded from an OV to a Cat 12 on Elation. My daughter and SIL were upgraded as well. But that was several years ago. I haven't been upgraded since so I wouldn't count on it.
ABcruisers Posted February 24, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Some great advice. I believe when we booked the cruise, we were told it was getting pretty full, so an upgrade would seem pretty unlikely. Guess I will wait to cross my fingers on a larger ship. Thanks again! Gecko7 Posted February 24, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2009 We book IN GTY on Elation and were assigned OV. Gecko7
lizardhowson Posted February 24, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Booking a room with the "expectation" of being upgraded is setting yourself up for disappointment. As long as you will be happy with your category, then nothing to be concerned about.
