Former Goalie Posted October 9, 2009 #26 Share Posted October 9, 2009 We have Verizon, so it is free to use the phone in St Thomas and San Juan, everywhere else there is a fee. Are you sure about St. Thomas? Last time we were there, we were under the impression that there was still a roaming charge. Maybe things are different now. We have Verizon. Mary Ellen Posted October 9, 2009 #27 Share Posted October 9, 2009 Last time I was in St. Thomas (2001 - can you tell I'm not a big Caribbean cruiser?), I didn't pay roaming when I used my Verizon phone.
momatibm Posted October 9, 2009 #28 Share Posted October 9, 2009 I was in St Thomas in 2008 and not extra charges from AT&T -- you can check verizon's coverage maps online.
mrcamp Posted October 9, 2009 #29 Share Posted October 9, 2009 I know for a fact that both AT&T and Tmobile consider Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Island as part of native coverage. And they do not charge extra to use your phones (data or voice) there. I am not sure about the other carriers.
