If I cancel a cruise prior to final payment being due, will I get the entire deposit back?

 

We are booked on FOS for May 24 for 3 rooms (6 of us). My husband and I are footing the bill for 3 sons and a girlfriend too. After much debate I think we will have to go on Carnival Valor that will save us $2500. I was looking forward to the FOS but just can't justify that much extra. Anyway was worried about getting a full deposit return.
