ma_in_ak Posted March 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2009 We have been all over Belize and Mexico so we have seen jungles, mangroves, bananas, coffee, and other plantations. Saw the Dole Pineapple place in Hawaii. Our ship (Celebrity Equinox) is also going to Panama canal so don't need another canal. Any suggestions? We would love to see some of the volcanoes or beaches but doesn't seem to be any options for that from Puerto Limon. We did zipline in Puerto Vallart but may end up doing that again if we can't find something else. Maybe river rafting?

We've had extended stays in Costa Rica and have been through most of the country and Central America. First: The canal outside of Limon is nothing like the Panama canal. There are no locks or large boats. It is a cut through a coastal rain forest. Second: River rafting is very good in C.R. and lots of fun. It depends where you go as to the class rapids. You can also kayak some rivers. Three: 45 min. from Limon is Cahuita Coastal National Park. It has won awards. It is a spot where the jungle meets the ocean and has both black and white sand beaches. Fourth: The volcanoes are too far inland from Limon to do while on a cruise. Fifth: Some cruises offer and aireal tram through the rain forest canopy. I'm not sure where they take you, but the trams I have been on in C.R. were worth doing.

Tortuguera canal is not Panama canal, think of it as a jungle river boat ride. You will see some birds, iguanas, sloths and other animals.

Hello we are going in December and this is what I found from Your lucky tours which is recommended on this site. I have a good promotion that is Zipline - Jungle Boat - Playa Bonita - Banana Plantation & House Packing to the end shopping, just for $ 90 P/P ( 4 tours in 1) (include transportation/round trip, tour guide and Beverages) If you compare the price with the ship shore excursions noticed the big difference, just by observing the price of Zipline and Adventure canal, rainforest.
