Canadian $ vs USD

Recommended Posts

I went to my bank (Wachovia) today to get some Canadian money and they did not have any. She said they would have to order it and there would be a charge of $15.

We will be arriving by cruise ship in May and staying overnight. Does anyone know if I could get the money onboard?

I don't know what your itinerary it sounds like you are on a repositioning cruise or a southbound cruise. In either case the Pax Services Desk will have CDN currency if you feel you need it. As you are staying only overnight than you can get by in Vancouver with US funds and or your credit card.

I already have an envelope with your name on it to leave at the front desk of the hotel with my left over Can.$ All you have to do is remember the name of the hotel I'm staying at.

Thanks, you follow instructions very well.;)

Hey PD - it would cost you a ferry fare to come over and claim your hard earned reward - perhaps I could claim the prize and for a small fee hold it until you come over for a regular visit.

Hopefully the hockey team will show up tonight.

Cheers

Don't worry we have our ways;) and by the way what is a PEN:eek:

Ut, we have started folding our tent here in the desert and will be heading home on Sunday. I am not sure if I will have ISP when I get home as my current one is saying a reconect may not happen until 4/29 and I have told them that if that is case don't bother and have ordered Telus as a back up. So will not be on these boards for at least a few days.:)

Penquins eh! Thought anyone that followed hockey would know that. Penquins-go Pens, like go Steelers. Oh please don't ask what is a Steeler.

Taking a Steeler Terrible Towel to the pilot of the flightseeing tour who told me his father grew up in Pittsburgh when I made my reservation.

Actually interesting that we are talking hockey - in a recent ESPN on-line article the writer did some stargazing and suggests that the team to look out for the in west was the Canucks and in the east it was the Pens - perhaps we should wait for the US Commander in Chief to make his pick - he was right on the money on the NCAA with North Carolina.

Have a good safe trip home and will watch for your posts once you get your internet back in service.

It is very sunny and warm here today - first time this year that the balcony is open - did fire up the BBQ on the weekend - there appeared to me more people down at English Bay yesterday than you see on some summer days and my drive up the Sea to Sky highway yesterday - what a great job they have done on this highway - was spectacular with the low snowline clearly visible on the local hills and mountains.

Enough of the local tourist type - time to head outside for some fresh air and lunch.

Cheers

PD and other Vancouverites - did any of you see the following story in yesterday's Vacnouver Sun:

http://www.vancouversun.com/news/vancouver/Free+Stanley+Park+shuttle+discontinued/1467514/story.html

It states that the free shuttle in Stanley Park may be canceled this year as the Parks Board is short of money BUT the have the money to rip up Park Drive by Prospect Point and do a major reconstruction job.

You would think that the socialists and anti-car greens on the board would be encouraging this service to continue and keep the cars out of the Park.

The City has recently increased parking fees throughout the City why can't the Parks Board do the same.

These are some of the same people who are complaining about the drop in tourist traffic and cruise ship spending and yet for the sake of a few $$$ want to make the City even more tourist unfriendly.

edited and added: I have posted a few comments on the Vancouver Sun blog under the name of Politics101

The comment above is that of the author of this post who is currently very sober and of sound mind.

Happy a great day everyone.

Cheers

Yes I read that online yesterday but was waiting for the final outcome. I will have to print your rant to show DW...there are times she turns the TV off while we are watching the news when I go into one of my rants.:)

Off to play golf soon, temp is 80 and going to 95 so it will be a hot one...the day not the game.;)

Finally our team's high priced goalie does as he is paid to do and that is to win a game where you are being outplayed etc.

Now if the Canucks can win there two remaining games and Calgary either lose or tie one of there remaining games then 1st place will be ours - otherwise it will be Chicago in the first round.

PD you are going to miss some of the weekend games while you are in transit back here to Lotus land.

My favorite drinking establishment for watching games was jammed tonight and I expect that the others along the Entertainment district were the same.

When it comes to hockey in Vancouver there never seems to be a recession as long as the team is winning.

Oh right this is suppose to be about cruising so I guess it is time for me to cruise on over to my bed and call it a night.

Cheers

Dennis
