I'm trying to decide my next cruise. I've narrowed it down to two cruises, both going to St. Thomas and St. Maarten. The Radiance of the Seas is one of the ships, haven't done any Radiance class ships yet, and it goes to Coco Cay. The other cruise would be on Carnival's new ship, Valor, which looks pretty cool, but goes to Nassau. I think I would like Coco Cay better, and it's really down to which port I would like best. The ships are a toss-up, I think they would both be fabulous. So which should it be??

I haven't been to coco cay but have been to Nassua. I'd definately take coco cay over Nassua as we found Nassau to be somewhat dirty, the shopping wasn't any better than in the states and their were plenty of pushy people wanting to braid hair, sell cuban cigars, offer tours or carriage rides. It got so bad I finally just started ignoring them rather than telling them no.

Hi izzy

I have sailed Carnival (but not on the Valor) and I have been to both Coco Cay and Nassau. I voted for the Radiance (which is a ship I've been on and love). I've looked at your cruise photos on your website and with the cruising experience you have I don't know that you'll find anything in Nassau that would exceed what you've seen on your other cruises. That is, unless you would like to see the Atlantis Casino.

Coco Cay has some nice things to do (nice snorkeling & jet skis) as well as just sitting around doing nothing. Course, I like to do that away from the main beach area (too many people), with a coco loco in my hand on a hammock. It doesn't get much better than that to me.

BTW-I loved the pictures. You guys live right!

I suppose it depends on what you want to do. If you're looking for a beach day, then I would choose Coco Cay--everything's included (except a few water sports). We just got back from doing both and had a great day both days. But, I liked Coco Cay better. In Nassau, we went to Cable Beach and "crashed" the Radisson Resort. We just walked in and used their beach. It was very nice but food was extra and I didn't really see any water activities. Plus we had to worry about carrying cash around with us. No cash needed in coco cay. If you're wanting to do some shopping or historical tours, then you'll want to go to Nassau.

Hi am due to cruise in June and one on the stops, hopefully is Cocoa Cay. Nassau is also one and we have been to Nassau twice and do not like it at all. Seems to be the norm that Nassau is a lousy stop. Maybe the cruise industry should take note.

I would have to say it depends on what you want to do.

The scuba diving and Blackbeards stingray trip beat Coco Kay anytime. Do not take the Coco Kay scuba shore excursion. It sucks you have to swim out to the one lifeguard tower about 100-150 yards, then swim out of the break water before decending and then there is nothing out there, no coral, no fish, did see 3 sting rays.

The plan relaxing doing nothing on Coco Kay beats hussle of downtown, but if you want Cubans or cheap Alcohol it is Nassau.

No offense but every port of call for any cruise ship is to fleece the cruisers. I just spent last week at a all nclusive in Cozumel and at 5pm when the crusie ships left the prices dropped like you wouldn't belive. The hotel staff told us not to shop between 8am and 5pm when the majority of ships were in port. And after cruising the carb, Bahamas and Alaska I can see where the locals see us cruisers as big suckers.

Our best visit to Nassau was when we paid $175 to book a room at Atlantis. Slides and stuff were fun, their beach area was clean and beautiful.

Don't get me wrong, I think Atlantis is way overpriced, but it was about the same in cost as a good shore excursion for 2, and was probably the best thing we could find there. Especially after 2 previous trips.

Depends on the time of year. I believe we're in peak season now. Plus, when you go online, you are actually going through a TA!!!! I learned that the hard way when they made an error on my res, when I got to Atlantis they said it wasn't "their" res system so I was SOL! Call them direct, and while at it ask for "cruiser day rate". The Comfort suites next door is much cheaper, and you get the wristband and ID to use all Of Atlantis' facilities.

We have been on nearly 20 cruises now and Ill say we absolutely loved Radiance of the Seas...it is one of the most beautiful ships afloat if not THE most beautiful. And.....if you get Capt Kent the singing captain you are double lucky. Remember "Its the Journey, not the Destination"
