pepperfeet Posted March 17, 2009 #26 Share Posted March 17, 2009 There is NO supper club on the Triumph. It's called the Paris or London supper club.:)
packard89 Posted March 18, 2009 #27 Share Posted March 18, 2009 I can't wait for the Triumph to come to New Orleans this November. I am putting together a group for Easter 2010. Too far away, but looking really forward to it. Carnival is by far my favorite cruiseline!!
matt690 Posted March 18, 2009 #28 Share Posted March 18, 2009 Do you feel the big screen took away from the poolside atmosphere and entertainment? Did the band play a lot... any less than they did on any cruises without the big screen? I sailed on the Triumph without the big screen, and I am debating on sailing on her again. Also, how were the shows? What non-broadway style shows did they have? Any comments about the food? Thanks.

The band played a lot, but don't be too close, they are loud. The shows were great. Wonderful choreography and costumes. Comedian Phat Cat was great and singer Marcus Anthony put on a great show. Breakfast food was the same as usual except for the potatoes. Better than the past fried McDonalds type hash browns. Lido lunch buffet I feel is is only hit or miss. Unless you crave a salad, you're better off doing the deli or burger station. The burger station was moving very slowly until the Executive Chef walked by and suddenly things started moving very fast. We had dinner every night in the Paris dining room. Service and presentation were fantastic, but overall selection has certainly declined. No more New York strips, Beef Wellinton or good sized filet mignon. Instead, they serve more pedestrian entrees like beef stroganoff, Chile Relleno and flat iron steak. The Chateaubriand was not sliced tenderloin, but flat iron. Prime rib was good and served on two nights. Lobster tail is small, so order several or get the prime rib as well. Some desserts were great, others not so good. The Baked Alaska was a joke, the chocolate melting cake that everyone raves about has great chocolate flavor, but is no more that hot chocolate pudding. The fig and date cake and the bread pudding were wonderfull. Still, the whole ding experience was wonderful, just not as gourmet as it used to be. (This is coming from someone who has spent 25 years running restaurants.)
Cruisin10-81 Posted March 18, 2009 #30 Share Posted March 18, 2009 Thanks so much for the offer to answer questions! We sail out of Miami on the Triumph this coming Sunday and are so excited! Glad to hear that it is a nice ship. A couple of questions though - Is there a chocolate buffet? I've read several different things, and I'm crossing my fingers. . . . Is there a place to get Sushi? We are planning to bring a couple of bottles of wine onboard - do you think we could get by with bringing 2 bottles per person as long as they are in separate suitcases? Thanks so much! poobears Posted March 18, 2009 #31 Share Posted March 18, 2009 the chocolate melting cake that everyone raves about has great chocolate flavor, but is no more that hot chocolate pudding. That's exactly how I feel about it. To me it's like you took a bottle of hershey syrup and heated it in the microwave for a minute and tried to drink it. I dreamed about that cake for months, was so disappointed when I got it.

There is an afternoon chocolate buffet, not a midnight one they used to have. There is a free sushi stand open for a few hours in the early evening. It's just inside the casino. You can bring one bottle of wine in each of your carryons, other bottles should be in your checked baggage. If you buy booze in one of the ports and try to bring it on board they will take it away.
